Welcome to our new online market position statement. We are excited to have transitioned to a more interactive model that we can continue to develop. We see the market position statement as an increasingly important part of our relationship with the care and support sector, that helps spark debate and encourage new ideas. This new market position statement is the first phase of our journey to develop a tool that can be reviewed and updated regularly, to support sustained change and improvement.

Our main aim is to help people and carers to be as independent as they can be, for as long as possible in the place they call home. We welcome any proposal of doing things ‘differently’ and through the MPS intend to provide clarity on the overall outcomes we wish to achieve, the types of partners we wish to work with and how interested partners can contact us.

Navigating Our Market Position Statement

Our market position statement is designed with you, the reader, in mind. We’ve worked with our partners across the social care and health system and believe we have created a document that will provide a useful source of information for those interested in the social care market. We hope you find it easy to navigate and access the information.  We’d like to hear from you about your user experience, you can contact us here.

By navigating left to right, using the blue navigation bar at the top of this section, you will find information about the broader national landscape and the information becomes more locally specialised as you move further right. The webpages take you from national impact through data and statistics to our specific offer menu and the emerging needs within the local marketplace.

Who is the Market Position Statement For?

The market position statement brings together information and analysis about the local market so that current and prospective providers understand the local context, what is likely to change and where opportunities might arise in the future. It is designed to help providers shape their business plans to support the council’s vision for the future of local public health, social care and specialist housing provision.

We are committed to working with current and potential providers to ensure the best possible health and care options are provided for the people of the East Riding, including people funding their own care, by maintaining an efficient and effective care market, by promoting diversity and quality in the provision of services.

We also look to encourage investment and innovation right across the sector, to shift away from a reliance on residential care, and offer people genuine options for drawing on outstanding care at home and in the community.

The Governments vision is stated as “a shared vision shaped by national and local government, care providers, care staff, the NHS, and those who draw on care and support and their carers.” This information will heavily influence care markets across the country so Local Authorities must ensure that their market position statement takes this into account.

The NHS 10 year plan also heavily affects the care market so should also be considered.
